Agate Bookends

Agate bookends, cut in matched pairs and heavy enough to hold a shelf of hardbacks. The cut face is polished, the outer edge left natural.

Cut as a pair from one slab, so the two halves mirror each other band for band. The face that meets the books is sawn flat and polished; the outer edge is left as the stone came out of the ground, rough and irregular. Two colors at the moment, aqua agate and natural clear. They hold by weight alone, which is enough for a row of hardbacks, though a shelf packed tight will push them outward over time.

Are bookends sold as a pair?

Yes. A pair is cut from one slab and split, which is why the banding on the two halves runs as a mirror image.

Will they hold a full shelf of books?

They hold a row of hardbacks on their own weight. A shelf crammed end to end puts sideways pressure on them and will slowly push them out.

Is the whole bookend polished?

Only the sawn face that meets the books. The outer edge keeps the natural surface of the stone.
