About the Amethyst
Amethyst is quartz turned purple by traces of iron in the ground. Cut into a long slice, the color shows as zones rather than a flat wash: pale bands, deeper violet bands, and often a clear or white edge where the crystal started out.
It is a hard, glassy stone that polishes well and keeps its shine under daily handling. Against gold the purple looks warmer; against silver it reads cooler and closer to gray-lilac.
How It's Made
The Barbarella is a handle rather than a knob: one long upright piece of stone, drilled through and carried on two screws, 6" to 5.5" tall and about an inch wide. The stone edge is electroformed, real metal grown onto the amethyst until it has thickness and bonds permanently, never a leaf or coating that rubs off where a hand closes on it. Gold, silver and rose gold finishes can be ordered, and the fittings behind the stone are brass.

Fit and Installation
These mount vertically on tall cupboard doors and deep drawer fronts, where a round knob would look lost. The two screws sit 4" (10cm) apart and measure 5.08 cm (2"). Bring them down evenly, a little at a time and by hand, rather than driving one home first.
Care
Wipe the stone with a soft dry cloth and keep household cleaners off the electroformed edge.
