About the Amethyst
Cut across the cavity it grew in, amethyst shows its whole history on one flat face: a gray or white agate border outside, a band of quartz inside that, then purple crystal lining the pocket at the center. The color is arranged in rings rather than spread evenly.
The cut face is smooth and slightly glassy, while the pocket at the middle keeps the crystal tips, which stand a little proud and break up light differently from the flat ground around them. Thin slices pass light at the border and hold it in the darker purple. No two cavities in the rough are the same size, so no slice repeats the one before it.
How It's Made
Each knob is a slice taken from natural amethyst and finished by hand, which is why the width runs from one piece to the next. The cut edge is electroformed, real metal grown onto the stone and permanently bonded rather than a leaf or coating that can rub off, in thick metallic gold. That rim wraps the slice and carries the threaded fitting on the back. Gold, silver and copper edging can be ordered.

Slices are cut one at a time, so the ring of purple, the width of the outer border and the outline all vary.
Fit and Installation
Made for cabinet doors, drawer fronts and wardrobes, and it takes a single hole. No additional hardware is required: the 1.75" bolt is supplied and can be trimmed for a thinner or thicker door. Tighten with care and by hand, since a slice is thin.
Care
Wipe with a soft dry cloth and keep household cleaners and solvents off the stone and the metal edge.
