About the Agate
Black agate cut as a single slab is denser in color than the same stone set in pieces: a near-solid black with gray and white banding running across it, sharp in places and soft-edged in others.
The polish brings the surface to a glassy shine, so the face picks up whatever light is in the room. At the thin edge the paler bands turn translucent and go smoke gray.
How It’s Made
This is one thick, irregular slab, roughly 4" in diameter, kept in the shape it was cut in. The whole of that edge is electroformed: real metal grown onto the stone until it has thickness of its own and permanently bonded to it, rather than a leaf or coating that can wear off. Gold against black is the most visible of the three finishes, silver the most restrained, and rose gold warms the gray banding.

Agate is natural stone, so the outline of the slab and the run of the banding are different on every clock.
Mounting
The clock comes with an electroformed brass base at no extra cost and will stand on a desk, a shelf or a bedside table. A sturdy hook at the back takes it onto a wall instead.
