About the Green Aventurine
Green aventurine is a quartz with tiny plate-like mineral inclusions suspended through it. Those flecks are what give the stone its particular green, a soft mid-tone that is closer to jade than to emerald and slightly cloudy rather than glassy-clear.
The inclusions also change how it takes light. Tilt the plate and small points across the surface catch and let go in turn, so the green appears to shift a little as you move around the table. The color is more even than banded agate, with gradual paler and denser areas instead of hard lines.
How It’s Made
The aventurine is cut to a rectangle and the four edges are electroformed, which grows real metal onto the stone until the rim has thickness of its own and is permanently bonded rather than laid over the stone as a leaf or coating that can rub off. A handle is fitted at each short end, and the handles are solid brass, made as an open leaf or a laurel arch. Rim and handles are finished in silver, rose gold or gold.
