About the Marble
Green marble takes its color from serpentine minerals running through the rock, and the result is a deep bottle to olive green crossed by veins of white and pale gray. The veins wander rather than repeat, widening in places and narrowing to a thread in others.
Marble is crystalline, so the polished face has a faint internal glow instead of a flat finish, and light travels a short way into the stone before it stops. The green reads darkest in low light and opens up considerably near a window.
How It's Made
The slab is hand chipped rather than sawn to a line, so the border is faceted and slightly uneven, and it is left thick and heavy. That chipped edge is then electroformed, with real metal grown onto the stone and permanently bonded to it, never a leaf or coating that can rub off. Gold against a deep green is the traditional pairing; silver cools it, and rose gold is also made.
