About the Agate
Natural light green agate in a square face reads differently from the same stone in a circle: the banding runs at its own angles inside a straight border, and the contrast between the two is most of the effect. The color is a soft pale green with white and translucent seams.
Light behaves the way it does in any thin agate: the pale bands let it through, the denser green holds it back, and the worked corners of the square are usually the brightest part of the face.
How It’s Made
The stones are arranged into a square and built in three sizes: 12" x 12", 14" x 14" and 16" x 16". Metal is electroformed around the outside, grown onto the stone until it has real thickness and permanently bonded, so the edge will not lift or rub away as a coating would. A square hangs well alone or in a group, and the gold, silver and rose gold edgings can be matched across them, with the hands following each finish.

Every face is cut from natural stone, so the banding and the shade of green differ on each one.
