The Sign
A low arch with a small crown at the crest and a full-blown rose set on either side of it. The number fills the field beneath and the street name runs across a raised band at the foot. Stepped feet at the base give the whole thing a plinth.
English, without being a pastiche of a pub sign.
Craftsmanship
Copper and brass grown over the sculpted form rather than cast, which is what allows a rose to keep its overlapping petals. Cast, the layers collapse into a single dome and it stops looking like a flower. The crown, the roses and the lettering are cut at their own heights, between 2 and 5 mm off the ground. The plaque is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid all the way through.
Readable from the road
Raised brass against a ground left dark reads as contrast, and contrast is what carries a number across a front garden. The crown and roses are kept small and high so nothing crowds the figures in the middle.
Built for outside
Sealed under a UV-protective finish once the patina is on. Frost, rain and sun will not fade or lift it, and there is no steel in it to rust and run down a painted porch.
Personalization
The house number and the street name, set exactly as you send them. House names work here as well as numbers, and often better on this design. The lettering is sized to suit the wording rather than the wording trimmed to suit the plate. A design preview comes back by email before anything is made.

The rose petals separate properly from 7 x 5 upward. At 6 x 4 the blooms are simplified so they do not close up.
Mounting
Three ways, chosen at checkout.
- Keyhole slots: two screws in the wall, and it lifts straight off.
- Peel-and-stick tape: sealed strips already applied. No drilling, which matters on a rented house. Smooth, clean, dry surfaces only.
- Floating stud mount: reinforced studs that stand it clear of the wall and put a shadow under the crown.
Hardware and instructions are included with all three.
Where it works
A brick wall, a painted door surround, a garden gate, a porch. It reads best against red brick or a strong color on the door, where the brass has something warm to sit against.
Care
Soft dry cloth. Keep brass polish and abrasives off it entirely.
