The Sign
A rounded rectangle with a fine double rule following the edge and three horizontal speed lines cut into the upper left and lower right corners. The number sits large and slightly left of center, the street name on a narrow band beneath it. Nothing else.
Streamline Moderne is deco with the ornament taken out and the movement left in.
Craftsmanship
Grown in real copper and brass over the sculpted form rather than cast. On a design this plain there is nowhere for a soft edge to hide: the speed lines have to stay parallel and square-shouldered, and the double rule has to hold an even width the whole way round. Rules, lines and lettering are cut at their own heights, 2 to 5 mm off the ground. The plaque is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid all the way through.
Readable from the road
With no motif competing for attention, the number is doing all the work, and it does it through contrast: raised brass over a ground left dark. That is what makes it legible from the street in flat light, at dusk, or across a parking court.
Built for outside
Sealed under a UV-protective finish. Sun will not fade it, rain will not mark it, and there is no steel in the body to rust and streak a rendered wall.
Personalization
Two lines: the number and the street. Send them exactly as you want them set. This design carries long street names better than most, because there is no ornament eating into the width. A design preview comes back by email before anything is made.

Clean at every size in the range. If your street name runs long, this and the Clipped Corner are the two designs to look at first.
Mounting
Three ways, chosen at checkout.
- Keyhole slots: two screws, and the straight top edge makes leveling straightforward.
- Peel-and-stick tape: sealed strips already applied to the back. No drilling.
- Floating stud mount: reinforced studs that hold it clear of the wall. On a plain design this is the one worth paying attention to, because the shadow line becomes part of the look.
Hardware and instructions are included with all three.
Where it works
A flat-fronted modern house, a rendered wall, a dark timber entrance, an office door. It is the least decorative sign we make and the easiest to put anywhere.
