About the Agate
Red agate is set in a full circle, piece against piece, so the face is made of many slices of stone instead of one. The reds run from brick through deep burgundy, and each slice carries its own banding, with pale rings and white centers breaking up the darker ground.
Some slices open into crystal pockets that catch light directly; others are dense and read almost matte. Thin slices go translucent against daylight, so a red clock on a bright wall shifts through the day while the deeper stone holds steady.
How It's Made
The circle is the whole dial, with the stone running out to the border and no frame laid over the top. Metal is electroformed around the rim, grown onto the agate and permanently bonded to it, so the edge has real thickness and nothing can peel off it. Gold suits the warmth of red agate, rose gold keeps it soft, and silver holds it back to something cooler. The hour and minute hands are matched to the edging chosen.
