About the Agate
Blue agate is the color on this tray. The handle stone runs from a soft gray-blue through to a deeper ink shade in the narrower bands, and the banding is fine enough to look drawn rather than grown. It is the one strong note against everything else here.
The top is white crystal agate, pale and cream-banded, with small quartz crystal pockets that show where the stone was opened up and cut. Blue against that white is the contrast the tray is built on.
How It’s Made
The 9" x 14" top is not a single slab. Agate of similar tones and colors is joined together with a clear epoxy resin, poured over the pieces to make one firm plate. The stone is then trimmed with electroformed brass, metal grown onto it and permanently bonded rather than laid on as a coating that can rub off. Blue agate handles set on solid brass are fitted at the short ends, and the finish is carried across the handles and the tray together.

The stones are natural, so the depth of blue in the handles and the layout of the pieces on the top differ from tray to tray.
A Gift For
Blue handles make this the easiest of the set to place in a room that already has color in it. It goes out for weddings and engagements, for housewarmings, and as a host gift where something less neutral is wanted.
Use and Care
Wipe the stone and the brass clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry them right away. Keep food on a liner or in servingware rather than on the stone itself.
