About the Agate
Green agate carries this tray. Its color sits between moss and sea green and moves in bands across the handle stone, darker where the layers packed tight, almost translucent where they thinned out.
The serving surface is white crystal agate, a pale banded stone in white, cream and faint gray with crystal pockets showing where it was cut open. Green reads warmer against that white than a blue or a gray would.
How It’s Made
The 9" x 14" top is assembled rather than cut from one slab: agate of similar tones and colors is joined with a clear epoxy resin poured over the pieces until they hold as one firm plate. Electroformed brass is then grown around the stone and permanently bonded, not applied as a leaf or coating that can rub off. Green agate handles set on solid brass are fitted at the two short ends, and the finish carries across the handles and the tray together.
