About the Agate
Wild agate is the broken end of the agate range. Browns, grays, rust and cream turn up in the same slab, and the banding does not run in clean rings: it stops, restarts, and cuts across itself where the stone was disturbed as it formed.
That makes it the busiest stone in the tray range and the least predictable. Under a lamp the paler layers lift and the rust-colored seams darken, so the surface never looks flat.
How It’s Made
The 9" x 14" top is made from agate of similar tones and colors joined together with a clear epoxy resin, poured over the pieces to make one firm plate. The stone is trimmed with electroformed brass, real metal grown onto it and permanently bonded rather than a leaf or coating that can rub off. Solid brass handles are fitted at the short ends in an open leaf or laurel arch shape, and gold, silver or rose gold runs across the handles and the tray together.

No two plates are assembled from the same stones, so the mix of brown, gray and rust is particular to each tray.

Use and Care
Wipe the stone and the brass with a soft, damp cloth and dry them right away. Serve on a liner or with servingware rather than resting food on the stone.
