A single slice of agate lit from behind, so the banding in the stone is what you see when the lamp is on, and a polished stone panel when it is off. Four colors at the moment: blue, yellow, pink and aqua. These are night and accent lamps, sized for a nightstand, a shelf or a hallway. Thickness and density change across a slice, so light comes through unevenly, brighter at the thin outer bands and deeper through the middle, in a pattern that belongs to your piece only.

How much light does an agate lamp give?

Enough to mark a hallway or a bedside at night. It is an accent and night light rather than something to read by.

Can you see the banding when the lamp is switched off?

Yes. Off, it is a polished slice of agate on its stand; on, the same banding becomes the light.

Why is one part of the stone brighter than another?

Because the slice is not the same thickness or density throughout. Thin bands pass more light, dense bands hold it back.

Will two lamps in the same color match?

No. Two blue agate lamps share a color family and nothing else, since each shade is a separate cut of stone.
