About the Amethyst
This is a single piece of amethyst rather than a cluster, and the purple runs through it unevenly, strongest where the quartz grew thickest and thinning to smoky gray or near-white at the edges. Natural crystal faces are left on the top, so the surface is a set of flat planes meeting at shallow angles instead of one continuous curve.
Against the light the stone is translucent rather than clear. Thin sections pass a violet glow, thicker ones hold it back, and internal fractures pick up light as faint white lines. A polished dome of the same stone would read as one even color; left with its own faces, this knob changes as the door swings and each plane comes into the light in turn.
How It's Made
The stone is worked only at the rim. The face stays as the crystal formed it, and the edge is electroformed, real metal grown onto the stone and permanently bonded rather than a leaf or coating that can rub off, in a thick metallic gold. A brass bolt threads into the back of the fitting so the knob sits square against the door. Silver and rose gold finishes can also be made to order.

No two are exactly alike. The outline, the crystal faces and the depth of the purple all change from knob to knob.
Fit and Installation
It fits cabinet doors, dresser drawers and wardrobe fronts through a single drilled hole. The 1.75" brass bolt is included, so no additional hardware is required. Tighten with care, by hand, and stop as soon as the knob sits firm, since over-torquing loads the stone instead of the fitting.
Care
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Household cleaners and abrasive pads will dull the amethyst and the metal rim alike, so keep them away from both.
