About the Gray Agate Quartz
Gray agate quartz is the most restrained stone in the range. Its bands move through smoke, ash and pale dove gray, with occasional white seams, and there is no strong color to argue with a table setting.
What it has instead is clarity. The quartz layers are glassy and let light run through them, so the plate lightens noticeably where it thins and holds a cool gray at the center. A silver rim reads as a continuation of the stone rather than a contrast, which is why this one is finished that way by default.
How It’s Made
Each tray is hand hewn from natural agate quartz, so the outline follows the piece of stone rather than a template. The edges are electroformed, giving a thick metallic silver band grown onto the stone and permanently bonded, not a leaf or coating that can rub off. A plain loop is fitted at each end; the handles are solid brass with a silver finish. Electroformed rose gold and gold finishes are also available on the handles and tray.
