About the Agate
Indigo blue agate reads as one deep color from a distance and breaks into detail up close. Concentric rings of navy, slate and near black circle a lighter core, each ring a record of one stage of growth.
Cut to a small slab, the stone shows more edge than face, and edges are where agate does its best work in light: the rim goes translucent and the color lightens to a blue that the middle of the piece never shows.
How It's Made
A small irregular slab, roughly 4" across and thick for its size, with the movement behind the stone. Real metal is electroformed along the edge, grown onto the stone and permanently bonded rather than laid over it, so nothing can peel at the border. Silver and gold both hold their own against a saturated blue; rose gold gives the warmest reading of the three, and the hands match whichever is chosen.
