About the Agate
Gray agate is the most restrained stone in this range and the most architectural. Its bands move from near white through smoke to graphite, laid in fine parallel lines that look drawn rather than grown, with the occasional translucent seam running clear.
There is no strong color to carry the face, so the work is done by contrast. In flat light the panel reads as soft stone; under a lamp the pale seams light up and the graphite bands go darker still, and the whole surface gains an edge it did not have.
How It's Made
Agate cut by hand is assembled into a 10" x 15" rectangle and clear epoxy resin is poured over the joined stones to hold them as one firm panel. Electroformed metal is grown along the edge, so the finish is bonded into the stone instead of sitting on top of it and cannot rub off. Silver is the close match here; gold and rose gold both read as deliberate warmth against a cool gray face.

A Gift For
Gray is the color to choose when the recipient's taste is unknown, which makes this a dependable wedding, housewarming or corporate gift. It suits a modern room or an office wall, and it reads as considered rather than decorative.
Care
Dust the face and the edging with a soft dry cloth. Avoid solvents and scouring pads, which cloud the resin and dull the metal.
