About the Agate
This agate sits in the cool grays: charcoal through dove, with the occasional band that turns faintly blue or brown as the layers change. The rings are wide and slow rather than tight, so the pattern moves across the plate like weather rather than stripes.
Gray stone changes with the room it is in. Under warm bulbs the bands soften toward taupe; under daylight the white lines come forward and the whole plate looks sharper. The thinnest bands let a little light pass and lighten at their edges.
How It’s Made
The tray measures 10" x 15". Agate of similar tone is joined with a clear epoxy resin poured over the pieces to give one firm serving plate, and the stone is trimmed with electroformed brass, real metal grown onto it and permanently bonded. Handles are solid brass and come in two shapes, plain modern or laurel arch, so the same gray plate can read spare or ornate.

Each plate is cut from natural stone, so tone and banding vary and the join lines fall differently every time.

Use and Care
