The Sign
A round plaque bordered by a continuous plaited knot, worked without a break so the strands run into each other the whole way round, with a triquetra set at the head. The number fills the open center and the street name curves beneath it.
The border is the point: an unbroken line with no start and no finish.
Craftsmanship
Real copper and brass grown over the sculpted form rather than cast. Interlace is the hardest thing to reproduce in metal, because the whole effect depends on one strand passing visibly over and under the next. Cast, those crossings fill in and the knot becomes a texture. Grown over a sculpted form they stay open, with each strand cut at its own height, 2 to 5 mm off the ground. The plaque is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid all the way through.
Readable from the road
Brass raised against a blackened ground reads as contrast rather than as shape, which is what lets a number carry across a front garden or down a lane. The knotwork is kept to the rim so nothing competes with the numerals in the middle.
Built for outside
UV-protected and weather-treated once the patina is on. Rain, frost and salt will not fade the finish or lift it, and there is no steel in it to rust and streak the stone underneath.
Personalization
The house number and the street name. Send both exactly as they should appear. Irish and Scottish street names with accents or Gaelic spellings are no problem, and the lettering is sized to fit the name rather than the name shortened to fit the circle. A design preview comes back by email before anything is made.

The strands of the knot read as separate from 7 x 7 upward. Below that the plait is simplified so it stays crisp rather than turning into a rope.
Mounting
Three ways, chosen at checkout.
- Keyhole slots: two screws in the wall, and it lifts off whenever you want.
- Peel-and-stick tape: sealed strips already applied to the back. No drilling. Smooth, clean and dry surfaces only.
- Floating stud mount: reinforced studs that stand it clear of the wall, which is what you want on rough stone.
Hardware and instructions are included with all three.
Where it works
On a stone cottage wall, a rendered porch, a gatepost, a painted door surround. A round sign holds its own on textured stone where a rectangle looks applied.
Care
Soft dry cloth. If it is somewhere exposed, rinse with clean water and dry it. No polish and nothing abrasive.
