The Sign
A heraldic shield with a lion mask set above the field, mane radiating out around it, and a stepped border following the shield's line. The number sits large in the body of the shield with the street name beneath.
Heavier than the other designs on purpose. A shield is meant to look like it is guarding something.
Craftsmanship
Grown in real copper and brass over the sculpted form rather than cast, which is what lets a face this small keep its features. The mane, the muzzle and the lettering are cut at their own heights, 2 to 5 mm off the ground, so the mask has depth in it and reads as a face rather than a rosette. The plaque is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid all the way through.
Readable from the road
The number is the largest element and it stands in raised brass against a ground left dark. That contrast is what makes it legible from the sidewalk and from a car, in flat light as much as in sun. Size alone does not do it; a flat sign of the same dimensions reads at half the distance.
Built for outside
Sealed under a UV-protective finish once the patina is applied. It will not fade, chalk or lift, and there is no steel in the body to rust and bleed down brickwork.
Personalization
The house number and the street name. Send both exactly as they should appear. Long street names are welcome; the lettering is sized to fit the name rather than the name cut to fit the shield. A design preview comes back by email before anything is made.

The mask holds its full modeling from 7 x 7 upward. At the smallest sizes the mane is simplified into broader locks so the face does not close up.
Mounting
Three ways, chosen at checkout.
- Keyhole slots: two screws in the wall, and it comes off easily if you repaint.
- Peel-and-stick tape: sealed strips already applied. No drilling. Needs a smooth, clean, dry surface.
- Floating stud mount: reinforced studs that hold it clear of the wall, which suits brick and stone where a flush fixing never sits flat.
Hardware and instructions are included with all three.
Where it works
Beside a paneled front door, on a brick pier, on a rendered wall under a carriage lamp. Dark paintwork suits it; the shield outline reads hardest against a pale wall.
Care
Soft dry cloth. Keep polish and abrasives away from the mask, where the detail is finest.
