The Sign
A wide banner plaque with stepped ends, a shell fan set into each one and the initial raised at the top center. The family name runs the full width, the bar line beneath it, the year in the lower band. The whole thing is much wider than it is tall.
Stepped ends and shell fans are pure 1930s cinema front, and the proportions follow: this is a sign meant to run along a wall rather than sit on it as a panel.
Craftsmanship
The steps at each end are the detail that has to be right, so they are grown over a machined form and finish with square shoulders rather than soft ones. The shell fans are cut in separate flutes, the banner bands stand at their own level, and the lettering sits lowest. Everything raised is within 2 to 5 mm of the ground. The panel is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid through across its whole width.
Built to last
UV-protective seal over the face. The bright brass and the blackened ground both stay where they should, which matters on a design that depends on contrast between the two.
Personalization
Family name, bar line, year, one initial. This is the most generous of the eighteen for a long surname, because the banner is wide and the name has the whole run to itself. The renders show WHISKY; WHISKEY is set just as readily. You approve an emailed design preview before anything is produced.

Mounting
Three options, chosen when you order.
- Keyhole slots: the straightforward way, two screws.
- Peel-and-stick tape: sealed adhesive strips fitted before dispatch. Good on paint, tile and finished timber.
- Floating stud mount: gusseted studs that lift it off the wall and put a shadow line under it.
Fixings and instructions are included whichever you take.
Where it works
Along the header above a back bar, over a mirror, in the strip of wall between wall cabinets and ceiling. It is the one to choose when the space you have is long and shallow.
Gifting
For an art deco house or a cocktail bar with a mirrored back. It reads as architecture rather than as a nameplate, which is why it survives in a room that already has a lot going on.
Care
Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Metal polish will strip the finish, so leave it alone.
