The Sign
An eight-sided plaque with the initial set in a circle at the head and a fan of deco rays opening out behind it. The family name runs across the widest band of the octagon, the bar line beneath, the year at the foot. Stepped moldings pick out the angles.
The octagon is the point of this one. Cutting the corners off a square changes the whole character of the sign and puts it squarely in the 1920s and 30s rather than nowhere in particular.
Craftsmanship
Deco work lives or dies on how crisp the steps are, so the rays are grown in copper and brass over a stepped form rather than pressed. Each ray finishes at its own height, the monogram circle stands above them, and the lettering sits at a third level. Everything raised is 2 to 5 mm off the ground. The panel is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid through, and the eight edges are finished square.
Built to last
A UV-protective seal over the whole face. The brass stays bright, the blackened ground stays black, and neither one shifts under a bar light left on all evening.
Personalization
The family name, the bar line, the year, and one initial for the circle at the head. Short bar wording suits this shape best, because the widest band is where the surname wants to go. The renders show WHISKY; type WHISKEY if that is your spelling. You approve an emailed design preview before we begin.

Mounting
Three ways, chosen at checkout.
- Keyhole slots: two screws in the wall, simple to level.
- Peel-and-stick tape: sealed strips already fitted. No drilling, which matters on a tiled or paneled bar wall.
- Floating stud mount: reinforced studs that stand it off the wall so it throws its own shadow.
Hardware and instructions come with all three.
Where it works
A cocktail bar rather than a whiskey den. Mirrored backs, black lacquer, brass rails, velvet. It also does something interesting on plain white, where the octagon reads as pure geometry.
Gifting
For the person whose bar is built around a cocktail shaker and coupe glasses. An anniversary year in the bottom line is the usual choice.
Care
Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Metal polish will strip the finish, so leave it alone.
