The Sign
A square plaque bordered on all four sides by a single unbroken Celtic knot, with the initial set inside a laurel ring at the head. The family name runs across the middle of the square, the bar line under it, the year along the bottom.
The border is one continuous strand with no start and no finish, which is the whole idea of the pattern and the hardest part of laying it out on a square rather than a circle.
Craftsmanship
Every crossing in the border is a real crossing, one strand raised over the other, grown in copper and brass over a sculpted core. Follow the band with your eye and it never breaks. The laurel ring stands above the border, the monogram above that, the lettering lower, the whole range 2 to 5 mm off the blackened ground. The square is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid through with square-finished edges.
Built to last
Sealed under a UV-protective finish. The recesses under each crossing keep their shadow, which is what keeps the knot reading as a weave rather than flattening into a pattern.
Personalization
Four fields: the family name, the bar line, the year and one initial for the laurel ring. IRISH PUB reads particularly well on the middle line of this one. The renders show the Irish spelling; type whichever you use and that is what we set. A design preview is emailed for your approval before production.

Mounting
Three options, chosen when you order.
- Keyhole slots: the straightforward way, two screws.
- Peel-and-stick tape: sealed adhesive strips fitted before dispatch. Good on paint, tile and finished timber.
- Floating stud mount: gusseted studs that lift it off the wall and put a shadow line under it.
Fixings and instructions are included whichever you take.
Where it works
A pub room, a study that doubles as a bar, a square of wall between two cabinets. The four-square shape hangs well in a grid with pictures rather than fighting them.
Gifting
A named gift for an Irish family, or for someone who has just built the pub corner they promised themselves. The unbroken knot carries the obvious meaning if you want to write a card around it.
Care
Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Metal polish will strip the finish, so leave it alone.
