The Sign
A round plaque with a horse's head sculpted above it, turned slightly and cut deeply enough that the cheek, the jaw and the crest of the neck all read separately. The family name curves through the center of the round, the bar line beneath it, the year at the foot.
No monogram on this one. The head is a strong enough element at the top that a letter underneath it would only compete.
Craftsmanship
A horse's head is all about the planes of the face, and those only come out if the piece is modeled rather than outlined. Grown in copper and brass over a sculpted form, the muzzle, the eye socket and the mane are each at a different height off the ground, the whole range falling within 2 to 5 mm. Turn the sign under a lamp and the face changes, which is the test of whether it was sculpted or traced. The disc is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid through.
Built to last
UV-protective seal over the finish. Color holds, the metal cannot rust, and the deep recesses around the head keep their contrast.
Personalization
Three lines: family name, bar line, year. Because there is no initial to place, this is one of the quicker designs to order. The renders show WHISKY, the Scottish spelling; type WHISKEY if that is what you want on the sign. A design preview is emailed for approval before anything is made.

Mounting
Pick one of three at checkout.
- Keyhole slots: cut into the back, two screws and done.
- Peel-and-stick tape: heavy sealed strips, applied here before it ships. Nothing to drill.
- Floating stud mount: studs that hold it clear of the wall, so the edge reads as a silhouette.
All three arrive with the fixings and a short instruction card.
Where it works
A tack room turned bar, a stable-yard kitchen, a country house den. It goes with leather, brass and green paint, and it looks right next to rosettes and photographs.
Gifting
For a rider, an owner, or a family whose weekends are spent at the yard. It reads as a horse first and a bar sign second, which is usually the point.
Care
Dry cloth only, lightly. It does not want polishing and it does not want washing.
