The Sign
An arched plaque with a standing lion sculpted at the head, one forepaw lifted and the mane cut in separate locks. Two small shields close the foot, with the initial set between them. The family name runs across the widest part of the arch, the bar line beneath it, the year at the base.
Heraldry is the reason the shape works. The arch narrows toward the top, which pushes the eye onto the lion, and the shields stop the lettering from trailing away at the bottom.
Craftsmanship
The lion is grown in real copper and brass over a sculpted form. That is what keeps the mane, the raised paw and the tail separate instead of merging into one mass, which is what happens to an animal this small when it is cast. Lion, shields and lettering are each cut at their own height, 2 to 5 mm off the ground, so the face of the sign changes as the light moves across it. The body is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid the whole way through.
Built to last
Sealed under a UV-protective finish, so the brass keeps its color rather than going dull and blotchy the way bare metal does above a bar. There is nothing in the body that can rust. A covered patio bar or an outdoor kitchen is well within what it will take.
Personalization
Four things to give us: the family name, the bar line, the year, and a single initial for the space between the shields. The renders show WHISKY, the Scottish spelling. Type WHISKEY and WHISKEY is what we make. A design preview is emailed for your approval and nothing is produced until you have signed it off.

Mounting
Three ways, chosen at checkout.
- Keyhole slots: two screws in the wall, simple to level.
- Peel-and-stick tape: sealed strips already fitted. No drilling, which matters on a tiled or paneled bar wall.
- Floating stud mount: reinforced studs that stand it off the wall so it throws its own shadow.
Hardware and instructions come with all three.
Where it works
Over the back bar, above a drinks cabinet, on the chimney breast of a den. It sits naturally against dark paneling and exposed brick, and it holds a plain painted wall too, because the outline is doing most of the work.
Gifting
A housewarming, or a milestone birthday for someone who has finally built the bar they kept talking about. Put their own year on it and it stops being decoration and starts being a record.
Care
A dry cloth now and then. No polish, nothing abrasive, and nothing wet left on the dark ground.
