The Sign
A square plaque with a thistle rising in each corner and a range of hills cut across the foot, layered so the ridges sit one behind the next. The initial is set in a circle at the head, the family name across the center, the bar line under it, the year in the lower band.
The hills are what set this apart from the round thistle sign. They give the design a horizon, so the lettering reads as sitting in a landscape rather than floating on a field.
Craftsmanship
The layered ridges only work because each one is grown at a different height, the nearest standing highest and the furthest almost flat against the ground. That is a genuine depth of field in 3 mm of relief, and it is the sort of thing electroforming can do and stamping cannot. Thistles, hills, monogram and lettering all fall within the 2 to 5 mm range. The square is 8 to 10 mm thick and solid through.
Built to last
UV-protective seal across the whole face. The high ridges keep their brass and the valleys stay dark, so the hills do not lose their layering over time.
Personalization
Family name, bar line, year, and one initial for the circle between the thistles. The square gives a long surname a full line of its own. The renders show WHISKY; WHISKEY is set exactly as you type it. A design preview is emailed and nothing goes into production until you approve it.

Mounting
Three ways, chosen at checkout.
- Keyhole slots: two screws in the wall, simple to level.
- Peel-and-stick tape: sealed strips already fitted. No drilling, which matters on a tiled or paneled bar wall.
- Floating stud mount: reinforced studs that stand it off the wall so it throws its own shadow.
Hardware and instructions come with all three.
Where it works
A highland bar, a hallway, a room with landscape photographs already in it. Against pale stone the hill ridges read hardest; against dark timber the thistles do.
Gifting
For someone whose family came from a particular glen, or who spends every holiday walking one. The hills are the part that makes it personal beyond the name.

A dry cloth now and then. No polish, nothing abrasive, and nothing wet left on the dark ground.
