About the Agate
The agate here is red, and on a circle the banding does something particular: the rings follow the outline, so the color turns in on itself, running from a deep carnelian core out through orange and rust to a pale edge.
Red stone holds light unevenly. The thin outer bands glow when the tray sits under a lamp, the core stays dark and flat, and the difference between the two is what keeps a plain round shape from reading as plain.
How It’s Made
A round tray offered in three diameters. The stone edge is electroformed, so real metal is grown onto the agate and permanently bonded rather than laid on as a leaf or coating that can rub off, and the handles are solid brass. Four handle shapes are offered, classic scroll, leaf scroll, laurel arch and open leaf, in silver, rose gold or gold along with the tray.
