About the Agate
Black agate is dense, hard and close to opaque, with the banding compressed into tones of charcoal and graphite instead of separate colors. Cut square and polished, it reads as one flat black with movement under the surface.
It is the stone in this range that works as a shape rather than as a pattern. The color competes with nothing, so what registers on a door is the outline and the bright line of metal around it.
How It's Made
The stone is cut to a 1.5" x 1.5" square with the face polished flat and the corners eased by hand. The four edges are electroformed in thick metallic gold: real metal grown onto the agate and permanently bonded, never a leaf or coating that can rub off at a corner. Gold, silver and copper edging can be ordered. A 2" bolt is fitted into the back on brass fittings.

Hand finishing and natural stone mean no two are exactly alike in thickness, edge or the way the corners are turned.
Fit and Installation
Made for cabinet doors, dresser fronts and drawers, and no additional hardware is required. The square back sits flush and will not spin once tightened. Trim the 2" bolt to size for a thin front, and tighten with care.
Care
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Household cleaners will dull the gold along the square edge.
