About the Agate
Red agate is banded with iron, which puts the color inside the stone rather than on it. A painted knob shows one flat red; this shows several, from rust at one band to a darker carnelian at the next.
The denser bands are opaque and the thinner ones let light through, so the face changes as a door swings and its angle to the window changes with it.
How It's Made
Each knob is a 1.5" by 1.5" square of red agate, hand finished so the face is flat and the corners are true enough to line up in a row. The rim is electroformed in thick metallic gold, real metal grown onto the stone and permanently bonded, not a leaf or coating that can rub off with daily use. Gold, silver and copper edging can be ordered instead, on brass fittings.

Hand finished from natural stone, so no two are exactly alike; the depth of red and the run of the banding differ on every face.
Fit and Installation
Made for dresser fronts, cabinet doors and drawers, and no additional hardware is required to fit one. The 2" bolt can be trimmed to size. Tighten with care, by hand, until the square holds steady.
Care
Clean with a soft dry cloth only. Abrasives and household cleaners will scratch the polished face and mark the edging.
