About the Agate
Golden brown agate holds a warm metallic cast that the plainer browns do not. The bands go from pale honey through amber to a deep tobacco, and where the layers thin out the color turns almost yellow against the light.
Stones of close tone are gathered for one panel, so the face stays within that gold to brown range from corner to corner. Under a lamp the honey bands brighten first and the darkest layers hold steady, which gives the face depth rather than a single flat wash.
How It's Made
The agate is joined piece to piece and clear epoxy resin is poured over it, setting the 10" x 15" panel as one firm face. The outer edge carries electroformed metal: it is grown onto the stone until it has real thickness and bonded permanently, not a leaf or coating that can rub off. Gold runs with the stone and rose gold sits close behind it, while silver gives the sharpest contrast.
